Mandom was established in Osaka during the Meiji era, and its predecessor was the Osaki Group, which sold overseas at imported department stores. Its founder, Shinpachiro Nishimura, born in Okayama, worked for the Osaki Group in 1908 and sold perfumes imported from France under his brand name, “Tsuru Perfume” and “Kanazuru Perfume. In 1978, the company launched the “Jaspers” line of cosmetics tailored for the new generation of men, and the line has since grown to win the approval of many. “In 1989, the company launched the world’s first fragrance-free cosmetic product, Lansdow, and four years later, in 1993, launched the women’s line Lansdow L.
